As most fashionistas remember, Vivienne Westwood was the designer for the famous wedding dress Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the first Sex and the City film when she had planned to meet Mr. Big at the altar. This may not have happened, but viewers still cleary remember the moment when Vivienne Westwood (as character Carrie Bradshaw) sent the dress to Parker as a gift when she saw her photos from her Vogue wedding shoot.

Even though Westwood holds the torch for some amazing wedding gowns she also designs menswear, women’s clothing, accessories, and most famously, shoes. Westwood’s current line shown on her website is filled with unique shapes, colors and designs that are sure to make any woman trip all over herself to wear. From classic flats to unconventional pumps, Westwood is making her footprint in the shoe world.

The “Pink Wanting Ballerinas” flat above is a new spin on a classic shape. For days on the go every woman looks to a pair comfortable yet stylish flats that she can run about town in. Vivienne Westwood produced this for us with an enamel orb on the toe, a signature mark on some of her designs. This flat containing a perforated look reminds us the days when we wore our jelly sandals but now they have come back with a grown-up sophisticated new look. The same reminiscences goes for the “Grey/Violet Heart Lady Dragon Shoes” also shown above. These peep toe sling backs offer the classic kitten heel but add the glamour of the gold edged mirrored hearts that bring the shoes to life.

Another aspect of Westwood’s designs that make them unique, is her ability to take a classic shape and revamp it to a modern day chic style. The popular “Mary Jane” shoes has been seen for decades, but not in the way Westwood has designed it. He unique molded toe shape give the foot added comfort to the already timeless style. The soles of these shoes are 100% leather and so it is recommended that the shoe be resoled for extra durability. You can view these styles, as well as the whole collection here. What do you think of Vivienne Westwood’s shoe line? Should she stick to wedding gowns, or keep on walking the road of shoe designer? Let us know! We’d love to hear from you.
